In The Palm Of His Hand
Behold, I have graven thee
Upon the palms of my hands;
Thy walls are continually before me.
–Isaiah 49:16
Jesus had nails “graven” through his hands out of love for his people. Typically, cities of the time were surrounded by walls for safety and protection, so He is interested in the safety and protection of his people. He does not see us as sinners but as grace filled children covered by his blood.
He knew my story long before I was born. I was raised going to church on Sunday mornings. But as a young married adult, I strayed away from church thinking God was disappointed in me. Years went by and I found myself trying to hide my sins from Him, not realizing he could see every one of them. I was spiritually bankrupt.
I prayed a small little prayer and God heard it! He set events into motion to change my life and fill me with grace because He shed His blood for me. My name was graven in the palm of his hand long before my existence. He protects me and keeps me safe.
