In the novella I am working on, a character mentions a song she heard during a moment of despair. The title of the song was Wait A Little Longer. For tonight’s poem, I had the question in my heart, “What did that song say to her?” I’ll be honest, in the future this may grow; but, for today, here’s my answer.

* Suicide is the second-leading cause of death for Oklahomans ages 10-24.
* Oklahoma has the 8th-highest number of suicide deaths in the United States.
◊Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. (1 Peter 5:8 KJV)◊
It is ALWAYS the voice of the enemy that will speak to you against life.
Life is precious in God’s eyes from Genesis to Revelation.
YOUR life is precious.
Wait A Little Longer
You feel lost, alone, and forgotten
In a world of shame and sorrow.
You wonder what’s the point in living
And tell yourself there’s no hope.
You remember a time of gladness
When your lips knew how to smile
And joy would come so easily,
But you were just a child.
Now, the choices you made have hurt you
And separated you from love,
Until you believed the words of the liar
And felt like just giving up.
But wait a little longer, Child.
Don’t make this decision so fast.
The voice of the Lord will come to you,
If you’ll take the time to ask.
