While praying a couple of weeks ago, the idea came to me that I should encourage my girls to learn to cook some. I kept thinking, I should assign each a day to fix dinner, let them pick the meal they want to cook, then I can provide the necessary items and be available to help as warranted. It was a busy weekend and I forgot about it. Then, during the 5th Sunday Dinner at the church, my pastor asks me point blank, “Are they doing any cooking?” as he nodded at the girls. I coughed, laughed, and told him about that prayer. (My pastor is known for such timing with his random questions.) So, we came home from that dinner with me telling my husband and the girls about this. Roni’s response was, “Nope, not doing it.”
Roni is actually the reason I thought a cooking assignment would be a good idea. She eats like 4 things on a good week. She is the most difficult child to feed ever, and I gave up on nutritional value a long time ago.
We are beta reading a new book about a dog, and while my husband read the chapter, Roni sat and loved her two dogs after dinner. When the chapter was over, she disappeared into the kitchen. After rummaging through cabinets and the fridge, Roni proceeded to make her babies some #GourmetKibbles. This is not what I had in mind when I suggested she cook a little– but I’ll take it.
Esther and LuLu? They LOVE it.
